The University invites application for admission to the following Courses for the session 2010-2011:
| 1.
|
Faculty of Arts:
(i) M.A. (2 - yr.) in the Subjects: Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, Education, Mathematics (Self- financing), Sociology (Self- financing), Hindi (Self- financing), Geography (Self- financing) and Environmental Studies (Self- financing).
Eligibility: Honours Graduate or its equivalent from any U.G.C. recognized University in the relevant subject.
a) Honours graduate/ Post Graduate in any subject with B.Ed. may also apply for admission to M.A. in Education.
b) Honours graduate in any subject may apply for admission to Environmental Studies.
c) Honours graduate in Political Science may also apply for admission to Sociology.
(ii) M.A. in Human Rights and Human Development (2- year Self-financing Course under semester system)
Eligibility: 50% marks in aggregate in any Honours (under 10+2+3 system) course of Social Sciences. Exception may be made for the candidates already working in Army / Paramilitary force / Police or in any human rights organization / NGO.
Break of study permissible up to – 2 years. Admission to the above courses will be taken according to merit as per norms prescribed in the Admission Form.
(iii) Diploma in Tagore Literature: (1 – year)
Minimum Eligibility: Madhyamik or its equivalent. Students of any stream from Degree level to Master Degree level may also apply.

Faculty of Visual Arts:
(i) M.F.A. (2-yr.) in the Subjects: Painting, Sculpture, History of Art, Graphics and Applied Art.
Eligibility: At least 50% marks in B.V.A. / B. Fine. or its equivalent from any U.G.C. recognized University. (Relaxation upto 10% for SC, ST candidates)
(ii) M.A. in Museology (2 -yr. self-financing course)
Eligibility: Honours Graduate or its equivalent / Post Graduate in any subject from any UGC recognized University.

Faculty of Fine Arts:
(i) M.A. (2 - yr) in the subjects : Rabindra Sangeet, Vocal Music, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Instrumental Music (Percussion), Musicology, Mass Communication & Videograpy (Videography-Thrust Area)
Eligibility: Honours graduate/ Post Graduate from any U.G.C. recognized University in any subject or its equivalent and special aptitude in the concerned subject.
(ii) Special Honours (2 Year) in the subjects: Rabindra Sangeet, Vocal Music, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Instrumental Music (Percussion).
Eligibility: Graduation from any U.G.C. recognized University in any subject or its equivalent and special aptitude in the concerned subject.

Distribution of Application Form:
Prescribed Application Form & Prospectus costing Rs.100 each set, will be available according to the following schedule from the ‘SONAR TARI’ sales counter of 56A, B.T. Road. Kolkata-700050 except Saturdays, Sundays and University Holidays. The application form may also be downloaded from the University website. In this case, a Bank Draft of Rs.100 in favour of ‘Rabindra Bharati University’ (payable at Kolkata) should be submitted with the duly filled in application form and should be deposited in person (not by post) at the office of the undersigned.

Distribution of Application Form: 30/07/2010 to 06/08/2010 (11.30 AM to 3.30 PM).
Submission of Application Form: 30/07/2010 to 10/08/2010 (11.30 AM to 3.30 PM).
Date of publication of provisional 1st merit list of candidates selected for admission (Arts Faculty): 03/09/2010 (After 3 p.m.)
Note: The university offices will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays and no form will be distributed or submitted on Saturdays, Sundays and other university holidays.
Date of Admission (Arts Faculty): 08/09/2010 & 09/09/2010 to 10/09/2010 (11.30 AM to 3.30 PM).
Date of publication of provisional list of candidates selected for Admission Test (Visual Arts and Fine arts Faculties): 17/08/2010 (After 3 p.m.).
General Information:
- No student will participate in, abet or propagate ragging in the University campus and hostels.
- Seats will be reserved for S.C./ S.T./P.H. candidates as per Govt. rules.
- Few seats are reserved in each course for Foreign / NRI students against a higher rate of tuition fees. In case of non-availability of Foreign / NRI students, Indian students may apply in those seats against the same rate. For these seats candidates will also have to collect a separate NRI Application Form from the office of Secretary, Faculty Councils after collecting the admission form from Sales Counter.
- For Arts Faculty only: Some seats will be reserved for the candidates who have an extraordinary performance in sports. The competent candidates who have participated at State / National / International level and / or a player of IFA/CAB may apply for these reserved seats.
- No candidate will be allowed for admission to two or more concurrent degree courses in the same University (regular/external) in the same calendar year.
- No individual communication will be sent to any candidate. Candidates interested in admission will be required to collect all information regarding interview/test and admission dates in this regard from the University Notice Board (Office of the Secretary, Faculty Councils).
- Admission of a candidate will be cancelled if any information given by him/her is found to be wrong or suppressed.
- Submission of application Forms for admission does not imply any right to admission and selection for admission does not assure accommodation in University Hostels.
- The list of the Candidates selected for interview/written test /admission will generally be treated as cancelled as soon as the corresponding last date is over.
- The decision of the authority will be treated as final.
