Profile
Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury, Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, Faculty of Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, teaches International Political Theory, Comparative Politics along with South Asian politics. He is an M.A. in International Relations and Ph.D. in Political Science. He is a commentator of Indian and South Asian politics. His articles and comments have been published in reputed journals, periodicals and newspapers in India and abroad. His recent publications include Sustainability of Rights after Globalization, (with Ishita Dey) (Sage: 2011), Internal Displacement in South Asia: The Relevance of UN’s Guiding Principles, (with Paula Banerjee and Samir Kumar Das) (Sage: 2005) and Indian Autonomies: Key Words and Key Texts, (with Samir Kumar Das and Ranabir Samaddar) (Sampark: 2005).
He is also the Head, Department of Human Rights and Human Development, as well as Director, Centre for Nepal Studies, Rabindra Bharati University. His awards and grants include the Salzburg Fellow (1996), and Visiting Fellow at the Brunel Law School, UK (2009).
