Taraknath Adhikari, professor and ex-head, department of Sanskrit, faculty of Arts, R.B.U., Kolkata, Co-ordinator of a U.G.C. major research Project on text-editing from manuscript. He teaches Sanskrit literature, specially Vedic literature and grammar for last twenty years. He is a poet, critic and translator. Published eight books, a number of articles (40+) in English, Bengali & Sanskrit in standard journals. He has visited and presented papers in international conferences in Austria (Vienna) France ( Paris) and Canada ( Montreal ) . Visited all over India to attend national conferences, seminars, Workshops. Awarded young Vedic scholar from south India in 2010. Visiting fellow of Tripura University, Guest faculty in Burdwan University, Jadavpur University. He delivered a number of lectures in refresher course in Calcutta University, Jadavpur University as a resource person. Fours students awarded PH. D. Degree under his supervision, 10+ students awarded M.Phil Degree. Completed one UGC minor research project . Life member of Sanskrit Sahitya Parisat, Asiatic society, Ex-co-ordinator N.S.S., Ex TICSA (eqv. Dean of Students ), member of P.G. Board of Studies, Burdwan University, Vidyasagar University, Kalyani University. Awaiting publication-book Nirukta (2012),(a treatise on Vedic grammar and semantics) and a number of articles. Total teaching experience 30+years.
