Jayanta is a young and promising teacher who also established himself as a prolific artist- printmaker in the field of creative art. After completion of his Graduation from the Graphics-printmaking department of Rabindra Bharati University he has done his MFA from Kala Bhavan (Visva Bharati). At this young age he made four solo exhibitions respectively in the art-galleries as Triveni Art Galler (New Delhi), Chitrakoot Art Gallery (Kolkata), Pegasus Art Gallery (Hyderabad) and the gallery of The Society of Contemporary Artists (Kolkata).
The art-works of Jayanta are appreciated by the art lovers and connoisseurs in India and abroad. Recently in 2011 he has been awarded at IV International Print Exhibition held in Istanbul (Turkey). He received the best exhibit award in the annual exhibition of the All India Fine Arts and Craft Society (A I F A C S) New Delhi. He also awarded in graphics category in the All India annual exhibition of the prestigious Birla Academy of Arts and Culture. He had received Haren Das Award for the best work in Graphics art at the 64th Annual Art Exhibition of Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. He also received awards from Indian National forum of Art and Culture (INFAC), New Delhi and Nirman award from the B.D. Bangur Endowment foundation of Kolkata. For the year, 2006 Rashtriya Lalit Kala Kendra, New Delhi granted him a scholarship to make research in printmaking. He was nominated by the Andhra Pradesh Govt as a Jury for Andhra Pradesh State Level Art Exhibition conducted by the Potti Sreeramulu Teleugu University.
In last ten years Jayanta displayed his art works in various national and international exhibitions. To name the few among those are as follows- 10th Lessedra World Art Print Annual, (Bulgaria), 2nd Penang International Print Exhibition (State Museum and Art Gallery/ Malaysia), Twelve Gates Art Gallery(U SA), Brownson Art Gallery (NY,USA), 2nd Bangkok triennial Exhibition of International prints and drawings ( Thailand), 9th 8th 7th 6th Bharat Bhavan International Biennial of Print – Art (India), 51st, 47th, 45th National Exhibition of art (Goa, Lucknow. Assam) etc. He contributed his art works in All India Exhibitions of Drawings (Punjab), State gallery of fine arts (Hyderabad), “Nostalgia 10”-Contemporary Artist of India (S.S. Kalakshetra, Lalit Kala Akademi of Assam), The Right Lines Art Gallery-10th Anniversary Exhibition ( Bangalore), Virasat Art Exhibition at I C C R Art Gallery (Hyderabad), ‘Mark, Etch and Print’ Organized by Art Consult (New Delhi) and Galerie 88 (Kolkata) , ‘Kolkata Montage’ in Jehangir Art Gallery (Mumbai) and many other exhibitions in India and abroad.
Since his post-graduation, Jayanta participated in numerous art –workshops and artist-camps. He joined “The Graphic Workshop’’ organized by Birla Academy of Art and Culture (Kolkata). He was invited in the ‘Edition Making Camp’ jointly organized by the regional Centers of Chennai and Kolkata of Lalit Kala Akademi, in collaboration with the Department of Visual Arts of Bangalore University. He joined the painters-camp at Tikkartal (Haryana) organized by EZCC& NZCC and “State level Painting workshop” organized by Bengal Fine Arts College & UGC. He also participated in Eastern region Print Making Camp organized by Rashtriya Lalit Kala Kendra (Kolkata) with the collaboration of Guwahati Art College (Assam) and International Young Print-Making Camp in Jammu organized by Jammu Art College.
Jayanta published his fine-prints in many graphic folios. Among those Chitrakoot Art Gallery (Kolkata) published an Etching folio of 15 limited edition Graphic prints of his works. He contributed etching prints in an etching folio “A tribute to Somnath Hore” of 6 limited edition graphic prints Published by Department of Graphics, Rabindra Bharati University (Kolkata). Jayanta also published his works in the Etching folio of 20 limited edition graphic prints published by Rasa Gallery, Kolkata.
